Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs hold national prayer for Nigeria

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) will today, September 30, 2026, hold a special national prayer for Nigeria at the Abuja National Mosque Complex.

The prayer is scheduled to take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. under the leadership of the NSCIA president-general and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.

The Council’s public affairs officer, Abbas Jimoh, announced the programme in a statement dated September 22.

According to the statement, the prayer will provide an opportunity to seek divine guidance, peace, stability and protection for Nigeria and its citizens

The prayer is part of a two-day programme organised by the NSCIA in Abuja. The council’s general assembly is scheduled to follow on Thursday, October 1, at the same venue.

The NSCIA has previously organised and supported collective prayers for Nigeria as part of its religious and national activities. Such programmes have been held in connection with national occasions as well as calls for peace and security.

The Council said the gathering will provide an opportunity for Muslims to collectively seek God’s guidance, protection, peace and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.

Muslims across the country have also been urged to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, unity, security, good governance and sustainable development in Nigeria.

The Council said the October 1 general assembly will serve as a platform for consultation and reflection on issues affecting the NSCIA, the Muslim Ummah and the nation.
