Nigerian gospel minister, Dunsin Oyekan has challenged Christians to develop a personal relationship with God rather than depend entirely on prophets, dreams and other people for spiritual direction.
Oyekan made the remarks on Sunday, October 11, 2026, during the Upper Room Abuja, a worship and prayer gathering he regularly hosts at the Rock Event Centre in Abuja.
He emphasised that prophetic messages should not replace believers’ personal fellowship with God or their understanding of the Bible, urging Christians to take responsibility for their spiritual growth through regular Scripture study.
According to his message, prophecy should serve as confirmation of what God has already communicated to a believer rather than become the primary source of direction for every aspect of life. He also encouraged Christians to read and study the Bible, describing it as a manual for understanding and navigating life.
The minister’s remarks highlight the importance of spiritual maturity and personal engagement with scripture, particularly among believers who frequently seek prophetic revelations before making decisions about their lives.
