American evangelist, Franklin Graham, has warned that the return of Jesus Christ may be approaching, urging Christians to remain spiritually prepared as advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and the growth of global systems raise questions about biblical end-time prophecies.
Graham expressed his views during an interview with American television host, Sean Hannity, on the Hang Out with Sean Hannity podcast, released on October 15, 2026. The conversation covered the return of Christ, the Antichrist, the mark of the beast, artificial intelligence and the possibility of a future global system described in the Book of Revelation.
Graham believes current global developments are unfolding within God’s plan for the eventual return of Jesus Christ. “I believe, Sean, what’s happening is we’re seeing God has a big chess board moving the players and the pieces on this big chess board to come to the return of His Son,” Graham said.
He also declared that a future global system and the emergence of the Antichrist were part of what he understood biblical prophecy to foretell. “There is going to be a one-world system. There is going to be the antichrist,” he said.
Graham’s remarks come amid growing public debate about the potential benefits and risks of artificial intelligence and the increasing integration of digital technologies into everyday life. During the interview, Hannity raised concerns about warnings from some AI developers that increasingly advanced machines could eventually pose serious risks to humanity.
Graham responded by pointing to potential dangers associated with the misuse of powerful technologies, including the possibility of AI systems being used to control critical infrastructure and weapons. He argued that such technological capabilities made it easier to envisage scenarios in which access to essential goods and services could be controlled through a centralised system.
Drawing from his interpretation of Revelation, Graham said people would eventually be unable to buy, sell or trade without the mark of the beast. He described the mark as being associated with the forehead or right hand, referencing the biblical passage commonly interpreted by Christians in discussions about the Antichrist and the end times.
He, however, declared that his hope is in Christ…”not in the Republican Party or the Democrats or some other future political system. It’s not in the UN.”
The evangelist said he believes God remains sovereign despite global uncertainty, political divisions and technological changes.
As the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Graham’s comments have drawn attention to longstanding Christian discussions about the Second Coming of Christ and the signs associated with the end times.
The interview has renewed discussion about how Christians interpret biblical prophecy in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and global interconnectedness.
