Sultan’s 20 Years on Throne: Muslim Media Group Commends Role in National Unity

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on his 20th coronation anniversary, commending his contributions to religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and national unity.

The organisation made the commendation in a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday and signed by its National President, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

The Sultan, who also serves as President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), ascended the throne in 2006.

MMPN, which identifies the Sultan as its Grand Patron, described his two decades on the throne as years of dedicated service to Islam, the Muslim community and Nigeria.

The group also appreciated his support for Muslim media practitioners and recognition of the media’s role in promoting responsible citizenship, understanding and peaceful coexistence.

It said the Sultan had consistently used his position to encourage dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians from different religious and cultural backgrounds.

According to the organisation, his messages of peace and unity have provided reassurance during difficult periods in the country and reinforced the importance of national cohesion.

MMPN further commended him for recognising the responsibilities associated with media practice, saying his encouragement had strengthened members’ commitment to fairness, professionalism and responsible journalism.

The organisation joined the Muslim community, the Sultanate Council, the people of Sokoto and Nigerians across the country in celebrating the milestone.

It also prayed for God to grant the Sultan good health, wisdom and strength to continue serving Islam, humanity and Nigeria.
